Morgan the Dog, Journalism Champion, Helps Town Residents Get Their Morning Paper
This dog supports local journalism and you should, too.
Morgan the Australian cattle dog has an important job each morning. Without him, the residents of Mystic, Conn., would have no idea what’s going on in the world.
OK, they probably would. But in a world where newspapers are having a rough go of it, what better way to bring on some good news than with an actual newshound?
As you can see in the video above, Brian and Jennifer Kettledon’s Morgan “is happiest when he’s doing a job.”
“We had to figure out how to channel his energy,” Brian tells The Day.
So, Jennifer taught Morgan how to pick up their copy of The Day. Then one day on a morning walk, Jennifer and Morgan helped an older woman get her paper. The next day, Morgan picked it up and dropped it at her door without any encouragement.
“I started doing random acts of kindness, just picking up various papers, and then it became a whole paper route,” Jennifer tells The Day.
The video shows Morgan, clad in his bow-tie “work” collar, very enthusiastically bringing the papers to doors across his neighborhood, making his mom jog to keep up with him.
One neighbor told the Kettledons that she doesn’t subscribe to the paper but she might if it means morning visits from Morgan.
A very good idea courtesy of a very good boy.
