A chow chow stranded on a tree-covered lake island was rescued Wednesday and is now being appropriately called Gilligan. Rescue One, a foster based animal rescue in Missouri, completed their first water rescue mission to save Gilligan.

According to a Facebook post from Rescue One, local authorities and fishermen saw the fluffy white pup on an island in Stockton Lake in southwest Missouri but were initially unsuccessful in rescuing him.

“The area is only accessible by boat so we aren’t sure how he got there,” the post says. Authorities contacted Rescue One for additional support, saying that the dog had been stranded on the island for three weeks.

As captured in a TikTok video posted by Rescue One, crews boated to the island where they found the dog tired and hungry.

According to Rescue One, Gilligan was found with a green collar but no tags or microchip. He also had a fishing lure stuck in his fur. Once he was brought back to their facility, team members made sure Gilligan got all cleaned up. They are still looking for Gilligan’s owners.

For now, Rescue One says Gilligan is enjoying food and a soft bed thanks to his new foster parents.

No word on the whereabouts of the Skipper, the millionaire and his wife, the movie star, the professor, or Mary Ann.
