Boomer came to us in August 2006. We had seen his photo in the newspaper for over a month, we really though he was a cute cat. We watched as his picture appeared everyday, we hoped he would find a good home. We thought he had been placed as his picture didnt appeaar for a while, but one day in August I opened the paper and pow and behold there he was. I phoned my husband who is a over the road truck driver, I said to him "you will never guess who's picture is in the paper" He immediately knew it was Boomer. He tld me to call the Humane Society and see if he is still there, and he was. My husband told me to go and get him.. I went to bail him out of the klink, while there I saw a familular face, it was Gertie. I phone my husband back and told him Gertie was there too. Gertie had been in the paper just about as long as Boomer. I told Todd that i just couldnt decide, so he told me to get both of them. It is $80.00 each to adopt a pet from the humane society, i knew this was their last effort to find homes for these two as they had been there for about 4 months, which is much longer than theu normally keep cats.. Gertie had already been altered and declawed, Boomer was in terrible need of a dental work over and a bath. He also needed altered, and declawed. he had been a city stray, so needed some medical care as well. I struck a deal, and got two cats for the price of one. I know that probably sounds rather stingy of me, but I really needed to get supplies for 2 cats and vet care for both. My sister rode along to help me bring these two home. I worked quite a while on Boomer to clean him up, he had urinated on himself, and really smelled terrible, it actually made our eyes itch and burn. I took both to the vet within a few days, and microchipped, vaccinated and all that needed to be done. Several hundred dollars later, we took them back home where they still reside 2 years later. Boomer didnt really want anything to do with anyone once he was here, but after his surgery and declaw, he is a completely different cat. He is truly a mama's boy. Quite the little lover face, he just loves to snuggle and cuddle take long naps. He has really taken to one of our new babies, "Puss In Boots: aka: Dennis (The Mennis)" Boomer really takes care of Dennis, grooms him, naps with him and plays with him. Some days it is like the WWF in our living room. Funny as it may be, Boomer has quite a sence of humor and loves to play with Dennis. It is pretty funny to watch. Boomer is quite healthy now, he needs to have his anal glands removed this summer. he has really batteled with them for the past 2 years. We can take care of them here at home, but the Vet has said that we need to think about the surgery as it appears to be a ongoing issue for him. He is such a sweet cat we would do anything for him tomake him comfortable.
